Pop'n: 3,516 (2006 census)
Location: 8 km NNW of Perth

This delightful suburb has been judged a top 5 suburb in Perth metro for future capital growth (source: Landgate, Oct 2008). Its good size blocks, 'small community' feel and excellent local shops and parks all make Woodlands a highly sought after place for families. Most streets are named after trees such as Oak, Elm, Birch, Sandalwood, Rosewood, Willow and the charmingly named Blackbutt Road (!)

Jackadder Lake Reserve is the central point, with its cycle and walkways, brand new exercise equipment, bbq areas and an excellent shaded playground. Miniature yacht enthusiasts compete with bouncy castles, cricket games, kite flying and children's parties.

Woodlands Village is located at the centre with a 7-day supermarket, shops and restaurants. WA’s largest Cineplex is a walk across the park, as are Scarborough Beach Road restaurants. Excelltn local primary schools, state and private schools are within walking distance. You're 10 minutes drive to the City, and less than that to the beach.

Woodlands is part of the original "Woodlands Estate" which was owned by John Daniel Manning. In 1842 the locality was recorded as "Jackadup", which was the Aboriginal name for the area. This was later adapted to "Jackadder", the name which is still borne by the lake at the centre. Development in Woodlands began in earnest in the 1960's (its name by then was changed from 'South Innaloo').
